John Wooden on Character

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

This quote really resonates with me. As I was tweeting back and forth with a few friends, there was a sense of humility.

The reason this quote speaks to me so much is just that, you should have humility. Let other people tell you that you do a good job. Ask for that recommendation letter or LinkedIn recommendation.

  1. Great quote Greg. Thanks for letting me have a little feedback on my reputation. Hopefully I can continue to make sure that my character reflects in my reputation as much as possible.

    1. First, thanks for the comment! Second, I firmly believe that feedback on a persons character 1) Shows that they care about who you are and how you act and 2) Builds stronger relationships.

Friends that tell you the truth, whether good or bad, are the one’s most concerned with your well-being, your character and your reputation. I firmly believe that Social Media is a good way to communicate and offer feedback to people, and I stand by my comment of you being awesome.
